Grandma,

God said it is okay to pray for big things. Miracles. Transformation.  So that’s what I’m doing and have been doing since I knew we were going to visit you this summer.  Grandma I pray that your mind and body are without pain and confusion.  I knew the Lord answered my prayers when you smiled at the mention of the Turtles’ “Happy Together” song we used to sing in the car.

I also know that we love you and He loves you.  Aside from that, nothing else much matters.

You were in such good spirits when we sat on the patio, you’re being well taken care of up in Washington - something we could never do by ourselves at home.  When you would daze and the alzheimers kicked in, though, my heart broke.  I’m sorry such a thing has become part of your life.  It’s not fair, but you’re a champ.

I’m proud of you.  For raising 4 wonderful daughters. For loving your (great) grandkids as much as you do.  For seeing many reasons to smile when the rest of us started to cry.

I love you Lulu.
